In August 2024, ACEA started a partnership with Qii Ltd., a leading sustainability-focused company (www.qii78,com). The two organizations will work together to educate the Hong Kong public about the principles and benefits of a circular economy. Through a series of events, seminars, and workshops, Qii Ltd. and the Asian Circular Economy Association aim to raise awareness and inspire action around reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling products. By collaborating on this initiative, the partners hope to accelerate Hong Kong's transition towards more sustainable, closed-loop economic practices that minimize environmental impact and unlock new opportunities in the green economy. We are happy with this new partnership and hope to see you in our future events.
Recently some of our colleagues from our association visited the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG). During the visit we learned a lot about the different species of plants and animals KFBG have planted and kept along with the scientific methods used to keep their resources, such as water and soil, reusuable and fertile.
ACEA will continue to explore collaboration opportunities with KFBG so that people from industries and communities can understand how nature can help them recognize opportunities to create extra financial and social benefits.
Our association was invited by Wofoo Social Enterprises to organize a climate change workshop using the methodology of Climate Fresk on April 27. During the workshop the participants from SME’s and academic institutions were very excited and eager to learn about the different aspects of climate change so that they could understand the urgency and help to transfer to their communities.
Immediately after the workshop several participants already expressed their interest to become facilitators. We hope that more people can join this campaign to share the knowledge and also promote proper habits and behaviours that help to reduce the level of GHG and limit the rise of temperature to 1.5C by the end of 2100.
ACEA teamed up with Climate Fresk Hong Kong to organize a workshop on March 16. Participants were very enthusiastic and try hard to learn so that they can transfer the knowledge to their friends and colleagues for reversing the effects of climate change in a collective effort.
In early February Circular Economy (Hong Kong), a partner of ACEA, was invited by Dream Impact, a community which includes entrepreneurs which support sustainable businesses, to take part in an event called LNY Marketplace. This event not only celebrates Chinese New Year but also helps entrepreneurs promote sustainability to communities.
Other than selling books, we also organize a session that help more people understand the basics of Circular Economy so that they can be aware of how to contribute to the environment and society by applying the principles of Circular Economy.
Our association was invited by the Netherlands Innovation Network of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs to attend an event on “Circular Design Research”. During this event several colleagues were assigned to different fields such as architecture, fashion, business models, music and care practice to discuss how circular design could help making these fields more sustainable. Also, during this event research groups between the Greater Bay Area and the Netherlands in those fields were established to perform detail studies between these two regions.
ACEA was invited by Green Council (www.greencouncil.org) to conduct workshops on Climate Change and Circular Economy. During the workshops participants learnt a lot about the complex causes and consequences of climate change and also how circular economy can help transform business models to become more profitable and at the same time create environmental and social benefits for reversing the effect of climate change.
To celebrate the fourth year of "Circular Cities Week" organized by Circular Economy Club, ACEA supported this annual event by organizing a webinar titled "How to Establish Circular Cities in our Region". During the webinar experts in Hong Kong and Malaysia presented their work and opinions on Circular Cities. Recording of the webinar can be opened by clicking the picture:
ACEA is excited to announce a new partnership with Green Token. This partnership brings together two organizations committed to promoting sustainable practices and supporting a regenerative economy.
As part of the partnership, ACEA will be able to reward attendees of their events and training with $GREEN and bring more climate-conscious people into the Green Token community.
‘’We are excited to partner with them to help spread the message of incorporating the circular economy into everyday life,” said Dom Varley, Head of Green Token, “Developing the circular economy is crucial in fighting unnecessary waste and ultimately reducing our carbon footprint. Green Token and ACEA are aligned with our vision for the future.‘’
“We are thrilled to partner with Green Token as we can offer more incentives to clients who participate in our activities and events. Besides getting more professional knowledge to help their business careers, our members can earn points for redeeming products and services from qualified merchants and service providers to create win-win situations for different stakeholders conveniently and transparently.” Harry Li, Founder of ACEA.
Looking ahead, Green Token and ACEA plan to work on specific initiatives and projects to promote sustainable practices and support a regenerative economy. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events and initiatives related to the partnership.

Circular Economy has been around for about 30 years. During these years there have been a lot of innovative solutions and according to the current trend there will be even more development in the near future because of the recent breakthrough in major enablers such as technologies, fundings, policies and measurement. In order to let people understand how these “enablers” can help promote the circular economy to industries, the communities and even each other to commercialize those solutions, Asia Circular Economy Association (ACEA) will host a full-day event on July 7, which includes presentations and workshops, to address those aspects from different stakeholders
This event also serves as the launch event of ACEA, which was established in 2020 but did not have the opportunity to announce their commencement until now because of the COVID 19 virus.
If you are interested in joining the event please register using this link.

Basic Concept of Circular Economy
How the initiator of Circular Economy learnt her lesson
Closing The Loop is the world's first feature length documentary on the zero-waste / circular economy, supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 on Responsible Production and Consumption.
Imagine if we built an economic system built on abundance rather than scarcity. Taking advantage of the latest digital tools, computational power, material science, biomimicry and a somewhat older idea - the commons - this new system could have the power to transform how we live and work. System Reset is a feature-length documentary which explores this story of change in our economy.
